9/09 ~ Our first day of Classical Conversations was full of excitement. New friends, new materials to learn and a new location for us this year as we have adopted a new CC community at Waxhaw Bible Church. This is nice for us because we also attend AWANA at WBC as well, so it was not totally uncharted... We are learning Ancient World Geography, Ancient History, Classifying, vertebrates/invertebrates, Earth and Space in Science, Latin Noun declensions, and all of the Prepositions. The Fine Arts, Math skip counting and Timeline cards are all the same so that lightens our load a little.
10/09 ~ This has been such an exciting month so far and its only the 7th. We set out in the back yard to find tadpoles and frogs, but came back with a totally different species. The tads and frogs seem to be gone now- the nights are getting pretty cold so they are probably in hibernation??? Anyway, we were trying to find vertebrates of the reptile or amphibian kind. The kids and I learned so much about classifying these awesome creatures God has blessed us with. We never knew there was a difference between the two, but there is! On our adventure C and A were able to find a really cool turtle - an Eastern Box Turtle to be exact and an Anole Lizard. Of which both are "vertebrates" and are part of the "reptile" family. We know this because we have learned how to classify and what to look for when we classify. How much sweeter learning is when I do it with my kids!
