Happy Feet...Happy Feet

Symetree Christian Yearbook 08-09

9/2/08 - Tuesday, the day after labor day we started our first day of Classically Homeschooling. We kicked the day off by attending the Classical Conversations Foundations Group. I tutored a group of 8 sweet Abecediarians(Kindergartners), while A. went to her first grade class, C. went in his class with other "Journeymen", and E. went with other preschool kids while S. played in the nursery. What an awesome program! I prayed God would lead me into the right with my decisions on HSing and faithful is He ever!

9/5/08 - Friday we are almost finished with our first week of school and it has been quite the experience. Some tears some laughter but mostly just exciting.

10/15/08 - A month has gone by and so far... so challenging!!!! Sometimes I wonder why or how I got myself into these situations. I went in prayer today as I am feeling this CC and Symetree Christian Academy might be a little more then I bargained for. I am teaching the kindergartners and the material just seems so dry or maybe it's my delivery. I want it to be less stressful and more fun! I pray God will help me in this tunnel vision I seem to be having. I so enjoy the fellowship of the other mom's and their children - you just can't duplicate that at home -nor the science experiments and presentations the kids have to give every week. I think if I could get a good schedule down that would ease some of my burden and perhaps get rid of the barking psycho dog we never have enough time for. Shame on us. No wonder why she's barking and psychotic, I would be to if I was one and nobody payed any attention to me. I will have to put that on my prayer list as well!

11/28/08: I have so much to say and so little time. We are working on body parts in Science and C -Happy Birthday Buddy - decided he wants to make the digestive system out of clay! Now that is what I call fun schooling. The schedule thing still has me bewildered, I think I need more hours in the day. Or maybe I just need to get as creative as my son! Maybe I'll ask him for some help on this one.

12/25/08: Happy Birthday Jesus!

12/30/08: As we wrap up the end of the year I am happy to say we made it through and we are still alive. Our blessings this year have just multiplied daily and we close this year in reflection of Christ's grace on us. Of which we continue to learn about and grow in daily, minutely, secondly... I have to say I am looking forward to 2009 but only through the eyes of one in Christ and God's Word. As I see it, It is the only way to move forward in the battle of the secular world in which we live and breath.
Loving with Gods love and sitting at my Father's feet.

1/19/09: Well a belated Happy New Year to all! We really hit the ground running and seem to be reaping from a prayerful first semester of schooling. We found a schedule and a great home for our barking peekapom, Sadie. Some friends from church looked after Sadie while we were at the beach last October and totally fell in love with her. Over the holidays they "trial" sat for us to see if her 2 daughters would get along with the Sadie and not to our surprise they got along wonderfully! Sadie has a yard now with a fence and parents that have and take the time to train and walk and well do everything any normal puppy heart desires! Thank you God and thank you Georgia and Tim, Stress in our house has decreased by at least 40%. Now for the other 60%. I have found a schedule! I searched, I prayed and ... and ... am taking an awesome hormone supplement that helps me feel like I don't need to cross every " l "or dot every " 1 " (see that - I didn't dot or cross...I am learning). Only through Him...His love for me...His faithfullness! I also found a new love of the position I am in with Classical Conversations....I will share more on that tomorrow. I'm off making games up to play with my littles in CC's !

2/09- Schooling is going so much more smoothly then it was just 4 months ago and I only have God to thank for that. He has surrounded me with good "Titus" shaped women/ homeschooling mom's that I just continue to learn from. His love is so abundant in His children and I love when He reveals that to me. We were able to get the CC timeline cards to song thanks to my good friend Emelia and her beautiful voice. My little abecediarians and children at home seem to be picking up speed in the memorization of the cards and that has also been an answer to prayer. The songs coupled with the hand signs, turns our everyday boring drills into a historically modern movement class. We sign, sing and shake to history - can't get much better than that! Now if I could just get this Essentials thing down! YIKES! I can sure use a built in Kate Story in our house! BTW-Kate is Collins Language arts teacher at Classical and she ROCKS!

3/31/09 - Today was our last day of Classical Conversations and I can't believe it is over already! Man this year is just flying by. March was very interesting, the kids are really getting a great look at Politics, Economy issues, Government and the stock market as this seems to be the "Prayer Trend" in our house. They are learning that the Economy is not a person, or the President (as that was the initial thought) but us and "US". We are learning about fiscal irresponsibility vs Stewards of Gods money, He has blessed our country with, as well as us as a family. With a new President this school year and the history Obama has made with being the first black(ish) President, people loosing jobs and big Government only getting bigger it has been really neat that CC cycle 3 was U.S. History! I'm sure it's not a coincidence, God has a plan in all that! Again, only He can do such an awesome job of planning! On a sadder note, I will miss my CC "Titus" Tudor women! They were an answer to prayer! I am so blessed to have them these past several months. The kids and I will be moving on to a different location next Fall and the thought of it makes me sadly sick to my stomach! But just as I wrote that, I know those thoughts are my own (fleshy) fears and not with God's sovereign plan in mind. It really is exciting to be one of His, you never know what He has up His sleeve, but it sure is fun watching it unfold! I will hang on to His love for me and the memories of CC South Charlotte He has blessed us with, as I push forward through these exciting times of our Homeschool Journey!
